Facial Redness

Rosacea, facial redness, red spots and broken capillaries all have one common denominator – vessels. These conditions are all due to over production of local blood vessels. They may worsen with sun exposure, medications, spicy foods, alcohol and hormones. They are also commonly seen with increasing age. Severe cases may lead to pain and bleeding.

How does the laser work?

The laser works by emitting a coherent beam of light at one particular wavelength. A specific wavelength is absorbed by the blood vessel (s) thereby allowing the laser to destroy it. How long does the procedure take? Treatments take 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the area.

Does the treatment hurt?

Patients describe the sensation similarly to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin.

Will I see results right away?

Multiple treatments are necessary to achieve optimal results. Tiny pink or red vessels usually disappear with 1 or 2 treatments; however larger veins or extensive facial redness may require 3 to 6 treatments, sometimes more depending on the individual. Special vascular lesions such as hemangiomas, birthmarks, or port wine stains have more varied timelines, depending on their size and quality.

I have a bunch of small red veins around my nose that never covered up well with concealer, so I decided to have them treated.  The procedure itself didn’t hurt much, and the results are excellent!  Goodbye to my little veins, and I love that I don’t need concealer anymore.
